Engine vibrations are negatively impacting a motorbike chassis. Since 2025, our supplier Active/Galespeed has been offering a component that provides more comfort and better handling behavior for your motorcycle. The Performance Damper is a shock absorber for chassis movements and adverse vibrations.

Performance Damper technology was patented by Yamaha Motorcycle Division and was first applied to the automotive industry for sports and luxury brands such as Lexus. The performance damper was used in a lateral axis parallel to the axles. Engineers have developed this technology to be used in the longitudinal axis for motorcycles and Active/Galespeed is the only manufacturer on the market with Yamaha to offer solutions for two wheels vehicles.

 

On a motorbike, the chassis components are secured to the engine by brackets,an

d axles, which are themselves screwed on the chassis to ensure the integrity of the motorcycle and the safety of the rider. Tightening the screws creates stiffness points that accentuate vibrations of the engine during its operation. The different obstacles that stress the functioning of the bike (bumps, braking and acceleration) cannot be filtered solely by suspension for low amplitude and high frequency chassis distortions.

The Performance Damper eliminates all movements with an amplitude of less than 1 millimeter and improves handling as well as comfort by reducing vibrations.

The effect is particularly noticeable on single-cylinder, double-cylinder or four-cylinder engine that do not benefit from a 180-degree distribution.
